Hey all! The name is Justin, and today we are going over how to create a mod for Tabletop Simulator!
If you’re asking yourself “Why do I need a Tabletop Simulator (TTS) mod?” then I will tell you who this is for, and why you would want it:
- You are a game developer. Whether for the public, or a private group of testers, this allows you to streamline updates to your game. It also eases the stress on your gamers by having a simple process to pick up and play.
- If you have a new or old game that you want to play for free, and you want to share it with friends and family.
- You want an easy way to save your favorite game.
Getting Started
This article is created with the assumption that you know how to upload custom components, and some other more advanced features. If you are unsure how to use these features, this youtube video can help. (If enough people are interested, an article can be created to show how to perform these steps as well!)

First, open up TTS, and create a Singleplayer table.
Once you have the table open, upload all of the objects that you will need for your game. For this example, I have created the “perfect” game named Super Checkers!
After all of your components are set up, navigate to the top middle bar and click “Modding.”
Next you will select “Workshop Upload.”

Once we are in the workshop, we will set up the basic information for the game.
- Workshop title will be the visible title of your game in the workshop.
- Workshop description is what players will see when the find your game in the workshop.
- The workshop thumbnail URL is your games profile picture.
- The workshop tags will give additional descriptors to your game in the workshop.
Once you have everything set up to how you want it, your game is ready to be uploaded. Click the upload button and let TTS do its thing (you should get a popup that notifies you that this step is in progress).
Your Mod is Now Live!

When the upload is successful, you will be met with a popup like the one below. While there normally won’t be any issues updating your mod, you should save this code somewhere where you will remember just in case.
Now let’s go and check out our new mod! Go to your library in Steam, click on TTS, then click the workshop tab.
Next, we will click on the browse tab and then your favorites tab.
Next, select “By (your name)” to see all of the mods that you have. Notice that our newly created mod is visible! Make sure to hover over the mod and click the green plus icon to add it to your subscribed mods.
You can set the visibility of your mod as well.
Now that everything is set up, reopen TTS and see that your mod is now up. When you click on it, it should open the table in the same state that it was uploaded in.
And that’s all to it! There are a lot of other settings and features that can be tinkered around with, but for now your game is ready to be shared with other people.
